All Oy bikinis are designed in Switzerland and manufactured in Portugal under fair working conditions by a small family business.
9 Facts about our Bikini Poduction
We are only using the most durable and high quality fabrics, all of which are sourced in Europe. This way, we ensure that the surf bikinis last for a long time without losing their shape and color. Our expertise and background in product design, coupled with our passion for surfing, allows us to put a tremendous amount of know-how into the development of the products.
Mónica Almeida, our agent, plays a very important and valuable role. She’s usually our main contact person and manages the production for us. This means that we have an extension of the team and can hand over responsibilities, which is great. Plus, we have direct access to the factory and can contact them on certain issues.

All fabrics for our surf and yoga wear are made in Italy and the raw recycled material is sourced from Slovenia. The production site is in Portugal.

The Factory is located about 40 minutes north of Porto.

Between September and March, we exchange ideas on a weekly to daily basis. It's about topics such as material sourcing, sample production and cut optimization. In the summer months, there's not so much going on because we focus on selling the products.

We go to Portugal at least once a year, typically during fall. This is when we discuss the latest collection and the various processes. In the meetings we analyze mistakes, look for process optimizations and discuss new solutions for product designs.

The factory was founded in 2015, but they have more than 30 years of experience in swimwear production, as the family business, that was first called Irmar, had long existed before.

There are currently 22 employees working for our factory, all of them working full time.

By Portuguese law, companies are obliged to pay at least the minimum wage. The law also specifies roughly how much is earned for which jobs. In addition to the law, our factory values its workers individually, based on their responsibilities. They also award diligence prizes and the profit is shared fairly among all employees each year. The appreciation towards the employees is enormous.

Oy places great importance on legal safety and hygiene requirements. Our production factory complies with all the specifications, and every 6 months, they are inspected by an environmental engineer, which makes sure that the employees work under safe conditions.

At the beginning of each year, a doctor, and a nurse visit the factory to perform check-ups on every worker. All employees are insured against occupational accidents. This also covers their way to the factory and business trips.
