Ambassador Andréa Gomez Lugo

Andrea grew up in the north of France, near Amiens, in a very colorful atmosphere thanks to her half-Colombian heritage. She, her parents and her three sisters were surrounded by a vibrant and well-connected environment, which fostered a strong sense of community and a deep connection with the world around her. Her childhood was filled with group activities, playing, exploring nature with her dogs, making music and trying out all kinds of sports. Her parents always encouraged her to nurture her boundless curiosity for life. It wasn’t until about 10 years ago, during a year spent in Australia, that she discovered her love for the ocean and water sports. Apart from when she’s traveling, she splits her time between her two homes: the majestic peaks of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in the French Alps and the sun-soaked shores of Fuerteventura. Her life is a dance with the elements in both of her homes, centered around the thrill of snowboarding and surfing.

What’s your home break?

On the southern tip of Fuerteventura, there is a series of reef breaks that stretch along the desert landscape. The waves crash against this wild backdrop, creating a stunning display of freedom and adventure. It’s a place where the ocean meets the desert, offering a truly magical experience.

What’s your favorite wave?

My favorite wave is a pristine reef break in Fuerteventura. I love sharing it with one or two of my closest friends, which turns every ride into a blend of grins and exhilarating shouts. It’s a clean, fast wave that challenges me while still being a playground of joy. The landscape is breathtaking, which makes every moment feel like a dream.

What’s your favorite board?

I have discovered a fantastic wave catching machine: The “Catch Surf longboard”. It is a great board for playing on days when the waves are unpredictable. You can catch all the waves you want on it. I love the soft board feel and the patterns are perfect. I’m also still in love with my very first own surfboard, a colorful 6’2 rainbow board. I have some of the best memories with it.

What is your favorite Oy piece?

My favorite piece is called Goby, a super-feminine top with a gorgeous back and perfect bust support. I wear it not only for surfing and yoga but also with denim shorts in my daily island life. I absolutely adore how it blends style and function!

What is the most inspiring surfer you look up to and why?

One of the most inspiring surfers I look up to is the amazing Bianca Buitendag. She started surfing later in life, and her style on the waves is like a dance with the ocean. Bianca’s ability to blend motherhood with her passion for surfing, while performing with such elegance and fluidity, is a powerful testament to pursuing your dreams and embracing life’s many roles.

What is your connection/relationship to Oy?

I bought my first Oy Surf Bikini in 2015, when I was just beginning to learn how to swim properly. The brand’s pieces became a symbol of my early days in the water and the start of my journey to create a life that merges entrepreneurship with a deep connection to others and nature.

Shortly after, during a transformative period following two intense years of kickboxing competition, I met Zelia, the founder of Oy. We shared waves in the Canary Islands and Portugal, and our bond deepened. Additionally, I actively collaborate with the Oy team in co-creating events that celebrate our shared passion for surfing and well-being.

Our Story, Our Promise

I wear it not only for surfing and yoga but also with denim shorts in my daily island life. I absolutely adore how it blends style and function!

What is the strangest thing in your refrigerator?

Probably a bottle of homemade ginger juice. It’s a spicy and refreshing concoction I made and use a lot. Now it’s a fun conversation starter every time someone opens my fridge!

What talent would you want to possess if you could?

If I could choose a talent, it would be the ability to help everyone experience the profound sensation of being in their full potential and to instill unwavering confidence in their unique strengths and qualities. Imagine a world where each person wakes up every day fully aware of their own brilliance, where self-doubt fades into the background, and every individual is energized by the realization of their own potential. This is not just a vision for me; it's at the very heart of my personal mission and business. I am driven by the desire to create environments and opportunities where people can truly see their own colors shine brightly. I want to empower others to embrace their uniqueness and confidently step into their own greatness, knowing that their contributions are invaluable and that they are capable of achieving extraordinary things.

How would you want to be remembered?

I would want to be remembered as a beacon of empowerment and warmth—someone whose radiant smile and magnetic presence ignited a spark of inspiration in others. I hope to be a cherished memory of magical moments that encouraged people to venture far beyond their limits and explore new horizons with unbridled curiosity. My deepest desire is to leave behind a legacy of motivation that encourages others to live more fully, to trust in their own potential, and to grow in faith, embracing every opportunity to expand and flourish in their lives.

What is your favorite pizza topping?

My favorite pizza topping is a colorful medley of fresh vegetables, with mushrooms as a must-have, and a luscious burrata at the center, topped off with a sprinkle of arugula. It’s like a garden of flavors on a plate!

If you could relive one day of your life, which one would it be?

I think it would be an exhilarating tapestry of extraordinary moments and a thrilling blend of my passion for extreme sports and the beauty of nature: from riding my first reef wave in Fuerteventura to mastering my first kitesurfing transition – the rush of freedom and adrenaline was unforgettable. I'd also revisit the exhilaration of my first snowboard descent and the intense energy of the K1 European final, where I discovered a newfound inner strength I didn’t even know I had. The transformative experience of my first yoga class in Portugal and the rare, cherished moment of having my scattered family united would complete this perfect day.

How do you make the world a better place?

I make the world a better place by following my inner voice and deep intuition. I could have played it safe, settling into a secure role as a product development engineer in a prestigious luxury or sports firm. But instead, I took a courageous leap into the world of entrepreneurship, daring to paint my own path with my unique colors. Every day, I strive to see fragments of myself in others and reflections of others in myself, which deepens my compassion and connection. Rather than blaming the world for my challenges, I explore what these triggers reveal about my own growth. Most importantly, I nurture my faith and trust in life, taking care of myself in ways that inspire those around me to do the same. I believe that behind each significant challenge lies a hidden gift—a seed of potential eager to blossom in the fertile ground of our inner selves.
